As data scientists we are naturally drawn to areas with massive amounts of data where the true potential of such data is yet to be unlocked. The retail industry presents us with this opportunity. Working closely with a number of expert partners in this industry, we are currently growing our suit of analytic applications for retail customers: ranging from campaign measurement, price optimisation and product demand forecasting to looking at the opposite side of stock management including logistical and warehousing aspects. Retail is one are where real-time analytic capabilities are especially relevant. Opportunities to engage with a customer is of short duration and need to be utilised immediately in an ever more distracting mind-space for the customer.
